Terms and Conditions

El Patron AI Assistant (web app and Chrome extension)

Last updated: August 6, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of El Patron AI Assistant (“El Patron”, “we”, “us”), including our website and Chrome extension. By accessing or using El Patron, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

If you do not agree, do not use El Patron. If you are using El Patron on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of the service

El Patron provides AI-powered coding assistance and optional repository security analysis. The service is offered through a web application and a Chrome extension side panel. You sign in with a third-party identity provider (GitHub or Google) and supply your own Google Gemini API key (“bring your own key” or BYOK) to enable AI features.

El Patron is a developer tool. It is not legal, security, compliance, or professional advice. You remain responsible for reviewing code, dependencies, and repositories before you trust or deploy them.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use El Patron. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your sign-in credentials and for activity under your account.

Authentication is handled through Supabase and your chosen OAuth provider. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe your account is compromised or used in violation of these Terms.

4. Your API keys and content

You provide your own Gemini API key. You are solely responsible for that key, for any charges incurred with Google, and for complying with Google's applicable terms and usage policies.

You retain ownership of prompts, messages, and other content you submit. You grant us a limited license to store and process conversation history and related metadata as described in our Privacy Policy, solely to operate and improve the service (for example, to sync history between the web app and extension).

When you submit a repository URL for analysis, you represent that you have the right to request access to that repository and that doing so does not violate any third-party terms or applicable law.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use El Patron to:

  • Violate any applicable law or third-party rights;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data;
  • Upload or generate malware, exploit code intended for harm, or content that facilitates illegal activity;
  • Abuse, overload, or interfere with the service or our infrastructure;
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or automate access in a way that bypasses intended use or rate limits;
  • Misrepresent AI-generated output as human-reviewed certification.

We may investigate violations and remove access without prior notice where necessary to protect the service, users, or third parties.

6. Third-party services

El Patron integrates with third-party services including Supabase, Vercel, Google Gemini, GitHub, Bitbucket, and OAuth providers. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party outages, pricing changes, or data practices outside our control.

7. Chrome extension

If you install the El Patron Chrome extension, you also agree to comply with applicable Chrome Web Store policies and Google Chrome terms. The extension may receive updates automatically when installed from the Chrome Web Store, or manually when you sideload a build.

Extension permissions are used only to provide documented features (for example, local storage, side panel, sign-in, and communication with our hosted API). See our Privacy Policy for details on extension data.

8. Disclaimers

EL PATRON IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that El Patron will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI outputs or repository analyses will be accurate, complete, or free of vulnerabilities. You use outputs at your own risk and should apply independent judgment and testing.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF EL PATRON.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR EL PATRON WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100. BECAUSE EL PATRON IS CURRENTLY OFFERED WITHOUT A PAID SUBSCRIPTION TO US, (B) WILL OFTEN APPLY.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless El Patron and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of El Patron, your content, your API keys, or your violation of these Terms or any third-party rights.

11. Changes

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or repository releases where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using El Patron at any time by signing out, uninstalling the extension, and clearing locally stored keys. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the service.

Sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where El Patron is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.
